About the Role

The Data Strategist supports the Company in leveraging a data-driven approach to meet its goals and drive impact for our customers. This position reports to the Chief Growth Officer and works cross-functionally with all teams to ensure Innovare can scale its growth while our users can reach their impact goals.
The Data Strategist is integral in supporting internal and external processes of the Company. This includes both qualitative and quantitative aspects of company goals and cross-functional business intelligence. Specifically, the Data Strategist will focus on developing the business intelligence strategy and implementing analytics and reporting in Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Customer Success and other functions to improve the performance of the teams. In addition, the person in this position will play an integral role in the Customer Success team to build our customer facing data visualizations and customer portfolio data warehouse.


  • Identify data requirements, including identifying the sources of data and methods to improve data collection, analysis, automation, and reporting
  • Extract, transform, and load data into our data warehouse and create data pipelines, as necessary, to automate data collection and structuring
  • Design and build data visualizations that simplify the ability to identify insights and develop a data-driven strategic plan and progress monitoring process.
  • Use visualizations to Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets and communicate insights to various audiences for better strategic planning and decision-making
  • Ensuring overall data quality and maintenance of systems, including filtering and cleaning data, conducting internal audits,
  • mitigating risks through a proactive approach on systematic data needs and data protection information
  • Support the success of all teams through data analysis, reports, and training as requested by management on important KPIs and insights to inform the product roadmap, process changes, and strategy
  • Develop and manage the system to measure marketing, sales, engineering, customer success, customer, and company performance and to identify risks and issues
  • Design and build key customer success reports and dashboards with advanced visualization tools
  • Select, configure, use, and train others on software that will increase transparency, accountability, and usage of data to make decisions that impact our customers

Experience leveraging impact and customer success frameworks to manage a customer portfolio and measure organizational impact
Excellent eye for design of visualizations
Advanced proficiency in Google Data Studio, Tableau, or other BI software to ideate and develop customized data visualizations
Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel formulas
Advanced proficiency in SQL
Experience implementing and managing BigQuery or other Data Warehouse
Proficiency in Marketing, Sales, Product, and Customer Success processes and analytics in each of those functions to measure performance
Proficient in systems and data in Marketing, Sales, Product, and Customer Success teams, including but not limited to Google Analytics, Hubspot, Segment, Mixpanel, Gainsight/Zendesk/Intercom
Ability and willingness to learn new functional and technical skills quickly
Desire to engage in self-development and growth through provided and independently sought out professional and talent development opportunities
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Education, OR comparable record of business intelligence and data strategy leadership experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • 2+ years of experience in K-12 education, public service, or social impact sectors
  • Experience developing code, scripts, batch processes using Javascript, Python, and/or other languages to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Experience using APIs to extract data from applications in JSON, CSV, and other formats
  • Experience building data pipelines with Google Cloud services and other applications
