About the Engineering Team

The Engineering team is a team of problem solvers that executes the product strategy to address the challenge of accelerating improvements in student outcomes. Our users are education leaders at schools, districts, and nonprofits who use our app, Inno™, to make data-driven decisions, develop strategic plans, and collaborate with their teams to implement their plans. Now, the team wants to improve the user experience of existing features, use emerging technologies to guide our users to
succeed, and onboard new segments of users to create the supporting ecosystem our education leaders need to thrive and reach their organization's goals. The ideal Jr. Full Stack Engineer enjoys learning, is a quality leader, shares knowledge with team members, is proactive and anticipates challenges, provides innovative solutions, and works collaboratively across the company to enable our product-led growth strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Engineering team in ideation, planning, development, and launch of the product
  • Participate in user research to understand the needs of customers and end-users and provide insights to the Engineering team
  • Provide insights and feedback on product strategy and roadmap, as requested
  • Execute on product strategy in the form of developing high-quality product features that are technically excellent, aesthetically appealing, and easy to use
  • Support the Engineering team to ensure the success of the product
  • post-launch by reviewing product analytics and qualitative data to understand the impact of product changes for our users and for the company
  • Build internal processes to improve the functioning of the team, as requested
  • Implement quality best practices in their code, collaboration, and release process
  • Engage with the education, social impact, and tech community, stay abreast of best practices and emerging technology, and develop new skills to improve Innovare’s products

Minimum
Qualifications

B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
2 years of software development experience (front-end/back-end and web/mobile apps), certification as a full stack developer from a reputable bootcamp, or equivalent working experience in a collaborative environment
Knowledge of designing and implementing a full-stack cloud application (cloud service, database, queries, middleware, front-end development, back-end development)
Experience with but not limited to the followings: React, JavaScript, Redux/Mobx, HTML/CSS, Chart libraries, PHP, Laravel, API, Webhooks, Google Cloud, Git, VIM, VSCode, Linux, Python, MariaDB/MySQL, SQL
Experience with Agile Kanban or Scrum Methodologies and productivity apps (JIRA, Asana, Trello, etc.)
Problem solver and manages risks that arise while communicating those risks appropriately to the team
Motivated to grow personally and professionally with particular excitement to learn new technologies
Self-discipline to stay focused on value-add activities and meeting deadlines
Detail-oriented with a focus on product quality and a great user experience
Able to thrive in a highly collaborative environment at a macro and micro-level (strategic planning, pair programming, code reviews, brainstorming)
Exceptional focus on the quality of their work
Familiar with the state of the art in software engineering across the stack

Preferred
Qualifications

  • Understanding of the education sector, EdTech work experience, and highly motivated to contribute to positive social impact
  • An impressive portfolio with a great eye for design
  • Machine Learning feature development experience
  • Big Data experience (Data Lakes, Data Pipelines, ETL, and Data Warehouses)
  • Experience with product analytics tools, such as Segment, Mixpanel, and FullStory
  • Understanding of data privacy laws and cybersecurity threats
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time
  • Proficient in English and Spanish
  • Aspirations to become a leader within the Engineering team and beyond
